UroNav MR/Ultrasound Biopsy System

The UroNav MR/Ultrasound Fusion Biopsy System represents a significant advancement in prostate cancer diagnosis. This innovative technology seamlessly integrates real-time ultrasound imaging with pre-operative multiparametric MRI data, creating a precise 3D image of the prostate. This fusion of imaging modalities allows for targeted biopsies, enabling urologists to pinpoint suspicious areas identified on the MRI with greater accuracy than traditional methods. By improving the precision of biopsies, UroNav helps to increase the detection of clinically significant prostate cancers while minimizing the sampling of non-cancerous or low-risk areas. This can lead to more informed treatment decisions and potentially reduce the need for repeat biopsies.

What are some common signs I should see a urologist?

Common signs include changes in urination (frequency, urgency, flow, pain), blood in the urine, pain in the back, side, or groin, erectile dysfunction, testicular pain or swelling, and urinary incontinence. Even if you don't have symptoms, regular checkups are important, especially for men over 40 regarding prostate health.

Is it normal to experience urinary problems as I age?

While some changes in urinary function can occur with age, significant problems like frequent urination, urgency, or leakage are not a normal part of aging and should be evaluated by a urologist. These symptoms can often be treated effectively.

What is BPH, and what are the treatment options?

BPH (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia) is an enlargement of the prostate gland, a common condition in older men. Treatment options range from lifestyle changes and medication to minimally invasive procedures like UroLift and traditional surgery like TURP (Transurethral Resection of the Prostate). The best option depends on the severity of your symptoms and your individual health.

How is prostate cancer detected?

Prostate cancer screening typically involves a Digital Rectal Exam (DRE) and a Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) blood test. If these tests suggest a potential problem, further evaluation, such as a biopsy, may be necessary. It's important to discuss the risks and benefits of prostate cancer screening with your doctor.

Are kidney stones painful, and how are they treated?

Kidney stones can cause intense pain, often described as one of the worst pains imaginable. Treatment depends on the size and location of the stone. Small stones may pass on their own with increased fluid intake and pain medication. Larger stones may require medical procedures like shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) or ureteroscopy.

What can I do to prevent urinary tract infections (UTIs)?

Staying well-hydrated, practicing good hygiene (especially wiping front to back for women), urinating after sexual activity, and avoiding scented feminine products can help reduce the risk of UTIs. If you get frequent UTIs, talk to your doctor about further preventative measures.

I'm experiencing erectile dysfunction. What should I do?

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common condition that can be caused by various factors, both physical and psychological. It's important to see a urologist to determine the underlying cause and discuss treatment options. Effective treatments are available, including medication, therapy, and lifestyle changes.
